For those of us non-greek girls dating frat boys

I'm a bad GDI.

I think I want to pledge Zeta Tau Alpha this fall.

I've been thinking about it a lot lately. Esp. when I'm at a Greek event. I want to be with a group thats close and has fun together and will give you help whenever you need it.

I'm scared though. I know being greek, there are certain things you HAVE to do. Events you HAVE to go to. Thats the only part I wouldn't like. But I want the sisterhood.

At least I think I do.

If I pledge, it won't be till the spring, but help me out.

have any of y'all felt this way?

i am no longer dating my greek, but i had, at times, thought about pledging.

but then i remembered all of the times the fraternity kept him away for stupid stuff, and then multiplied that by two. it was tough enough to get time with him that didn't include his brothers, adding sisters to that would have driven me insane.

plus, if you're lavalliered, can you pledge a sorority?

Yes you can still pledge, silly. =P

Anyway, you go to a Southern school? Because up here in Jersey, the Greek stuff isn't take toooo seriously. At least, in comparison to Southern greek schools. And it still drives me nuts. What year are you? Because up here you won't even get a bid if you are a second semester Junior.

But yeah, there have been moments when I considered pledging. In fact, a friend and I rushed just for the hell of it, and I hated it. It's for some people and it's definitely not for others. Most of my friends who pledged sororities quit after a year or so because the drama and commitment was too much. I did the same thing as Jess, above. I can't even imagine taking my schedule and his, making us BOTH greek, and then trying to make time to see each other. Pledging is even worse. I know I would never see Chris for that entire semester.

Also, I am too frickin' independent to have some group of girls telling me what I have to do, where, when, and with whom. I have no desire to go to mixers, etc. Up here, certain sororities only hang out with certain frats and you don't mess with that. It's just too much of a constiction on my own life for me to do it. Plus, I have my sisterhood with my girls. =D

Now, I am obviously GDI through and through. But do what's right for you. I have friends who pledged and love it. You have a set group of friends, good networking, and a social calendar set compeltely into place for you. Good luck =D

I feel the same way about a lot of that. But my deal is that I have a LOT of guy friends. I don't have that many girlfriends so the sisterhood would be nice. But at the same time, I remember that I don't have a lot of girlfriends for a reason.

Who knows....

haha, you sound like me. :) I hate drama, so I can't even imagine living in a house with 40 other girls and spending all my time with them. I lived on an all-girl floor and it was torture. :)

You could always rush and see if you feel good anywhere. :) And also, there are always co-ed frats like Alpha Phi, etc. Maybe less drama there? hehe

LOL. I don't think that there are co-ed frats at my school. And the girls dont have to stay on campus.

But eh. I do hate drama. Unless its my own of course :-D

well of course, because my drama is drama, it's LIFE! hehehe. anyway, just do your research. :) Some of my best friends were/are in sororities, and I like my friendships with them just fine without the contract or what have you of the sorority sisterhood. haha.

one of my best friends from hs is a ZTA :)
